Day 1: Marrakech – Aït Benhaddou – Ouarzazate
Leaving Marrakech at 8:00 am and depart to Ouarzazate. On the way we will cross the Atlas by the amazing Tizi n ‘Tichka pass, 2260 meters high. Shortly after crossing the Atlas take a track to visit the Kasbah of Pacha Glaoui in Telouet and through various Berber villages to reach the Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, an incredible fortified city more than 800 years old. It has been a film set for movies like Gladiator and The Kingdom of Heaven. At the end of the visits we head to Ouarzazate, where you can visit the film studios. We spend the first night at Riad / Kasbah.
Day 2: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Tazarine – Gorges Mharech (track Dakar)
After breakfast and a visit to the Kasbah Taourirt, we depart towards Zagora crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains and through the Tizi n Tinifift pass, 1600 meters high. Entering the Draa Valley we drive along a track and see many kasbahs and Berber villages inside. Leaving behind the villages of N’kob, Tazarine and Alnif, we will take another track that crosses lost villages up to the Gorges of Mharech. Many of these sections are those which are traversed during the Dakar Rally. Dinner and overnight in a Riad.
Day 3: Mharech – Oasis Ramlia – Ouzina Dunes – Merzouga
Continuing along the Paris-Dakar track, we come across lone people crossingwadis (dry river beds), and Ouzina oasis and dunes. Following the route we will visit the Berber villages and take the road towards Erg Chebbi, highest dunes of Morocco. We will have lunch, a speciality Berber pizza with a Berber family. Finally, we arrive at Merzouga and the high dunes of Erg Chebbi. So no need of a hotel because the camels await us to go into the desert, while the sun sets, to the camp of tents in the middle of the high desert dunes, where we spend the night in traditional Haimas. Dinner and overnight in a tent under the desert stars.
Day 4: Merzouga – Visit Nomads – Merzouga
We wake before dawn to watch the sunrise. We ride the camels back to the hostel. Shower and breakfast. Surrounding the Erg Chebbi is an expanse of desert where we will see the Great Dune of Morocco, over 250 meters, connecting by track with part of the route taken by the former Paris-Dakar rally, with the mountains that border Algeria in the background. We make a stop at the oasis of Tissardmine and continue until a nomadic settlement where we will learn some secrets of their life and customs. There is a great place to stop at a viewpoint where you can look back and admire the Erg Chebbi together. You will enjoy a stop in Khamlia, in this villagethe people are descendants of Sudanese slaves, here we relax with tea while enjoying a short concert of Gnawa music. Return to the hostel, lunch and free time to climb the dunes and take advantage of a romantic sunset. After dinner, we expect a show with Berber drums. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.
Day 5: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
Breakfast, shower and freshen up. Once ready, we will head towards Rissani, the origin of the Alaouite dynasty and first Imperial city in Morocco. We take the road to Erfoud, rich in black stone and marine fossils (if you want, we can stop at a fossil factory). Next we arrive at the Palm Grove in Tafilalet. Visit the Todra gorges and finally arrive at Dades Valley, dinner and overnight in Riad / Kasbah
Day 6:Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Skoura – Marrakech
Leaving the Dades Valley along the route of the “ThousandKasbahs”, pass the surprising Valley of the Roses and reach the Skoura palm grove, here the most famous Kasbah of the area can be seen. From this point we begin the way back to Marrakech. Transfer to your hotel and the end of the trip and our services.
